 Cow is the Mother of whole universeIn scriptures it is written, “GaavoVishwasyaMatara” (गावोविश्वस्यमातरः) . Therefore, it is the duty of everyone to serve  the Mother Cow.

Our great saints in his teachings, had often emphasized cow care, or cow protection and they teaching us that the society will flourish if cows and Brahmans are taken care of properly.

namobrahmanya-devaya go-brahmana-hitaya ca
jagad-dhitayakrishnayagovindayanamonamah

“My Lord, you are the well-wisher of the cows and the Brahmans, and You are the well-wisher of the entire human society and the world.” (Vishnu Purana 1.19.65)

Cows are important to the human beings from both spiritual and economical point of view. Milk, cow dung and cow urine produced by Mother Cow has both spiritual and economical importance.

 

According to the Gavopanisad

One should see, offer obeisance’s to, and circumambulate the cow. By doing so, one is supposed to have circumambulated the entire earth with its seven islands. The cow is the mother of all. She gives happiness to everyone. People who desire prosperity should daily circumambulate the cow.”

Rastriyasantsri ram das jimaharaj  has established the Shri jankigaushla at sri dham vrindavan. . cows are currently living in safe and comfortable environment in vrindavan . Most of these cows are old and have been rescued from butchers and slaughterhouse. GurudevMaharaj recommends Serving and Protection of the Mother Cow in His every katha and his lectures. Also, there are plans for opening a Cow Hospital which will treat Cows suffering from different diseases or health issues.

Sastra About Gau Sewa

A. By donating land for the service of the cows, a person is freed from any sins he has committed to earn his livelihood.”
(Mahabharata)

B. In the Srimad-Bhagavatam 10.21.18, Govardhan Hill is glorified as the best devotee because of supplying water, soft grass, caves, fruits, flowers, and vegetables to Krishna, Balarama, the cowherd boys, and the cows.

C. In the Srimad-Bhagavatam 3.16.10, Krishna Himself states, “The Brahmans, the cows, and the defenseless creatures are My own body.”
